Online courses offer convenience and access

• Student’s choice of best time and place to learn
• Frequent interaction with instructors and other students through online chats, email, and other learning activities
• Learners access primary content and instruction using a variety of tools from WebCT/Blackboard. Some courses have scheduled activities such as chats, face-to-face meetings, and/or proctored exams. Participation requirements vary from instructor to instructor. Check the online course details in the online course schedule for this information.

Policies

Online courses follow the regular semester-based UNM course schedule. All UNM admission and registration deadlines, policies, and procedures apply to students who participate in online courses. Online courses appear on your transcript in the same way as campus-based courses.

Procedures

Taking an online course is very different from the traditional classroom environment. To accurately anticipate the amount of time to devote to an online course, keep in mind that students are not attending a face-to-face class. A typical 3-credit hour online course may translate to approximately 6-9 hours per week on average for class work and homework.

Equipment Requirements

You will need access to a computer with broadband internet that can stream video and audio. Your course may also require hardware such as a headset with microphone.
